Mary Snipes was one of the recipients of the Coretta Scott King Courage (Humanitarian) Award at the Martin Luther King Day Jr. Day celebration in January 2025. Snipes was appointed by Kansas Governor Laura Kelly to serve on the Juvenile Justice Oversight Committee overseeing the implementation of reform measures intended to improve the state’s juvenile justice system.
